Key Responsibilities:
The Leave Specialist position uses subject matter knowledge to ensure quality of all absence management processes. This position requires collaboration with both internal and external customers which includes Supervisors/Managers in the field, Third Party vendors, Payroll, WC, and Medical Providers. This position will also require working in several different scheduling systems, requires a high level of customer service, written and verbal communication skills, problem solving and decision-making skills in a fast-paced call center environment. Perform quality assurance audits to ensure continuous improvement and internal service level parameters are met
Possess and maintain all Absence Management subject matter knowledge (SME) processes
Stay abreast of current leave policies and procedures applicable to state and federal regulations as well as United Working Together guidelines
Foster partnerships between 3rd party vendors and regional business offices
Provides guidance to employees, supervisors and management about Absence Management policies/procedures while maintaining the highest degree of confidentiality of employee medical documentation
Investigate employee’s past medical history utilizing UA medical records, scheduling systems, absence management systems and disability guidelines
Perform related administrative duties such as preparation of reports, special projects and other duties as required
Process documents with the aim of improving efficiency, productivity, and delivery of hassle-free service to employee’s system wide
Manage knowledge articles for process workflows and training
Using multiple medias, engage in Interactive discussion with 3rd party agents, employees, and internal UA collaborators for verification of medical data and employee health status

What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
Two or more years’ experience with chart review, FMLA, EIS, Occupational, and/or healthcare administration
Two or more years in a fast-paced operational environment/call center
Excellent verbal and written communications skills, organizational abilities, and customer service
Have and maintain all Absence Management subject matter knowledge (SME) processes
Domestic and international travel
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

BA/BS Degree
Supervisory Experience
Airline knowledge
Knowledge of CBA absence management language and experience in supporting a large and diverse unionized workforce
Two or more years prior experience in the Employee Service Center department
