The Southwest New York Dairy, Livestock and Field Crops Program provides educational opportunities and technical assistance to help the industry with emerging issues, production bottlenecks, and new technologies. Our primary audiences are dairy and field crop producers as well as agri-service providers with secondary audiences of the media, non-farm residents, and consumers.
What You Will Do
Provide administrative support to the team leader and specialists. Coordinate the team?s calendar. You will arrange travel, meetings, and conferences for staff and have the opportunity to work with team members to develop logistics for conferences and programs. Other duties include:
  • Assisting the team with updating and maintaining the team?s website.
  • Providing marketing assistance by creating the design and layout of the monthly newsletter, team brochure, and reports.
  • Purchasing team supplies and field equipment.
  • Processing billings and invoices for reimbursement.
What We Need
We are looking for a talented individual who builds and maintains effective relationships with multiple stakeholders. We need someone with strong customer service skills focused on excellence. Additionally, we need someone who has the following:
  • High School Diploma and 2+ years of experience in an administrative setting, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Significant experience with Microsoft Office programs ? Word, Excel, Publisher, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience developing and maintaining web pages.
  • Must be personable, flexible, and able to change direction and handle multiple projects.
  • Excellent organizational experience.
  • Possess communication skills (both written and oral).
  • Provide exceptional customer service.
  • Ability to develop effective working relationships with diverse office staff, specialists and constituents while creating a highly respectful work environment.
  • Must be able to work freely as well as in a team environment.
  • Attention to detail, pride in work, and diligence are expected.
  • Experience that demonstrates creativity, management, and solution-finding skills.
  • Must be able to meet the travel requirements of the position and have reliable transportation as well as have and maintain a valid and unrestricted New York State driver?s license.
  • Must exercise sound and ethical judgment when acting on behalf of the University.
If you possess these experiences and skills, this may be the role for you! There are a few other qualifications that we would view as incredibly helpful in this role, including:
  • Associate's degree.
  • Work or volunteer experience with Cornell Cooperative Extension or similar agency is desirable.
This is a part-time (20 hours/week) position and will be located in Belmont, New York. This is a one-year appointment with possible extension depending on funding and performance.
