Pre-Kinder Aide

JOB DESCRIPTION POSITION: Pre-Kinder Aide JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Training: * High School Diploma or G.E.D. and ESSA or NCLB Certificate * OR Associates degree OR 48 college hours from an accredited college/university * Child Development Associate (CDA) Certificate Special Knowledge/Skills: * Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing * Good organizational skills * Good classroom management skills * Maintain confidentiality REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: Experience working with children JOB DESCRIPTION: To assist the classroom teacher achieve teaching objectives by working with individual students or small groups to help them achieve the skill levels of the class as a whole. To provide a well-organized, smoothly functioning class environment in which students can take full advantage of the instructional program and available resource materials. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Ability to communicate and work with students, parents, community, co-workers and administration. Works with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills initially introduced by the teacher. Reads to students, listens to students read, and participates in other forms of oral communication with students. Alerts the regular teacher to any problems or special information about an individual student. Serves as the chief source of information and help to any substitute teacher assigned in the absence of the regular teacher. Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students. Daily attendance and punctuality are essential functions of the job. Perform other duties as assigned. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: *Students assigned. OTHER INFORMATION: Days: 187 Mental/Physical Demands and Environmental Factors: Ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and written, ability to read selected instructional material instructions; ability to maintain emotional control under stress. Patience and tolerance, use of computer, repetitive hand motions, stooping, kneeling, standing, bending, sitting and occasional lifting of 40+ lbs.
