Summary The Marsal Family School of Education is seeking a Diversity & Inclusion Specialist to join our team to collaboratively enact and maintain measures that promote diversity, inclusion, justice, and equity (dije) in the school, with a particular focus on supporting students. The selected candidate will work with our Associate Dean for dije, the dije Office Team, and other DEI leaders on campus to ensure the vision and strategic plan in relation to dije are applied and sustainable for all constituents within the school, especially our undergraduate and graduate students. Responsibilities* Serve as the dije Office's primary point of contact, liaison, and support for undergraduate and graduate students Coordinate all aspects of the dije Office Student Advisory Board Provide guidance, support, and resources to students and staff in managing dije issues, sensitive situations, and/or crises Connect with students and communicate broadly across the school about dije initiatives and programming Develop and implement programming, learning opportunities, and processes to promote dije throughout the school as related to climate and community-building, student recruitment, mentoring, and other student-related areas Host regular student-focused events and activities that bring visibility to dije issues and initiatives Become knowledgeable about and draw on resources and guidance from campus partners and supports as well as the U-M Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (ODEI) to advance the school's dije objectives Maintain records and documentation of student incidents and concerns Work with the Associate Dean for dije and the Education Diversity Advisory Committee to assess our work over time. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Required Qualifications* Master's degree + at least 2 years experience in a service-oriented role working with students and/or other community members, preferably around equity and inclusion Demonstrated experience, passion, and commitment for addressing diversity, inclusion, justice, and equity issues and ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities (e.g., racial, gender identity and expression, disability, LGBTQIA+) Enthusiasm for developing and implementing programming and initiatives for students Demonstrated experience in providing guidance, support, and resources that advance equity and inclusion Outstanding project management skills and ability to bring about change and bring vision into strategy and actionable activities Ability to effectively network and build relationships with compassion, empathy, and trustworthiness Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills Excellent public presentation skills Desired Qualifications* Demonstrated experience in providing guidance, support, and resources in the context of student affairs or other relevant student-facing roles in higher education Additional Information This role requires in person, on-site duties due to various work and customer service needs. Under the Marsal School's current policy, requests for up to two remote days per week are possible depending on the service needs. The physical work location is at 610 E. University, Ann Arbor, MI.
