Simulation and Certification AHA Program Manager

This is a hybrid work model requiring to be onsite at any of our Northern OH hospitals when needed Primary Function/General Purpose of Position The Program Manager Simulation and Certification will oversee the administration and monitoring of the American Heart Association (AHA) and American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) life support programs at BSMH. The Program Manager will serve as faculty for the simulation and training center and will be responsible for assuring that the ministry’s life support certification programs adhere to the standards set by the AHA and AAP. Serves as a teacher, facilitator, and role model for employees, healthcare professionals/students and members of the community to ensure achievement of ministry goals within the spirit of its mission and values. Essential Job Functions Ensures quality of instruction in American Heart Association AHA courses by conducting and coordinating instructor essentials course for new instructors and for periodic updates published by the AHA. Processes applications for new instructors in the assigned region. Assures instructors are teaching to the standards set forth by the American Heart Association AHA and the American Academy of Pediatrics AAP. Coordinates and completes instructor monitoring. Provides constructive feedback to instructors as needed to maintain quality of programs. Maintains certification as an AHA instructor in Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support. Conducts monitoring and audits of the training sites affiliated with BSMH. Assesses compliance of training site with AHA procedure. Provides training sites with feedback regarding deficiencies or gaps in record keeping. Maintains records for the BSMH Simulation and Training Center. Provides instructional support for associates to improve competencies and skills in meeting course objectives thru a variety of modalities including lecture, interactive events, and simulation. Develops or assists in development of psychomotor skills and learning materials, including online learning modules, videotapes, simulation scenarios, and course handouts. Assists in document creation and maintenances for simulation scenarios; participates in technical training as necessary. Communicates potential or actual student, faculty, or staff problems to the Simulation and Certification Manager/Director. Conducts individual remediation sessions as needed; provides feedback to associates participating in remediation sessions. Collaborates with site resources to maintains and update equipment. Assures adequate inventory of equipment, medical supplies, etc.; monitors simulation equipment; troubleshoots and resolves problems; and assists in data collection. Conducts ongoing maintenance of all simulation equipment, including cleaning, repairing and assuring that all equipment is always maintained in good working order. Conducts operations in accordance with standards developed by governing bodies related to certification, including but not limited to OSHA, AHA, and AAP. Maintains professional competence through participation in continuing education and membership in professional associations.
