Director of Screening and Admissions

***Per G.S.126-5(c1) (37), this position is Exempt from all provisions of NC General Statute Chapter 126 (State Human Resources Act) with the exception of Articles 6 and 7.*** This position is designated Mandatory and must report or stay over during adverse weather events. The position of Director of Screening and Admissions is responsible for the organization, administration, coordination, and supervision of all screening and admissions processes. The Screening and Admissions Unit (SAU) is a 24-hour service in which all candidates for admission are screened for hospital admission and admitted to the hospital when indicated. The SAU operates as a psychiatric emergency department and all EMTALA regulations are followed. This position is responsible for ensuring processes operate to meet the immediate emotional and physical needs of the patients, to respect the patients’ rights and dignity, and to assure a safe environment for patients and staff. This position serves as the primary liaison with community referral agencies including emergency departments, hospitals, Managed Care Organizations (MCO), and the court system. This position also serves as the primary liaison between the SAU and the rest of the hospital in coordinating issues around the screening and admission of patients.
